Well, what can i tell about me... My name is Jo Geraerts. I live in Bree, Belgium and was born on 2 October 1981. My Greatests interests are science, electronics, computers and music.

Science and technology have always been one of my greatests interests. On high school i studied Industrial Sciences. These courses focussed on math, chemistry, fysics, mechanics, electricity, ... Unfortunatly we also had some less (read a lot less) interesting courses like history, languages ( french, german and englisch), and other crap.

After 6 years of high school i went to college. Of course i choose a courses that were related to science (i am predictable, not?). This would take 4 years and now i have a degree in engineering ( option electronics/ information and communication technology.

At the moment I am employed as a network and system administrator. My main task is to administer linux servers and test and deploy high-available services based on linux systems.

This brings me to another interest of me: computers. I mostly like to play with Linux/FreeBSD systems, network services and these kinds of things. Since a computer is a very stupid thing you've got to learn it some things, this is also known as progamming. I hated languages on high school except for computer languages ( they are at least logical). Most of these things i learned myself by experimenting with it and screwing up things (and starting all over again).

Music is very important to me. It can change my mood in almost 3 seconds. What music i like to listen? Well i can give you a very simple answer: Everything i like. I dont care what other people think of music, i just listen to things i like. Things i dont like include every pre-chewed pop song that's intended to make lots of money. Music has must be made with the intention to make music, not money.

What about umask.net? Well umask is a system call that sets the mode for newly created files. Why did i choose this for domain name? Since i needed some kind of domain name for this site and i'm quite involved in unix system administration this just came accross my mind. Take a look at umask(2) for more information about this system call.
